Is Argus Capture free?

Argus Capture offers a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card, no account, no sign-up required. After the trial, a one-time purchase unlocks the app permanently.

Is there a subscription?

No. Argus Capture is a one-time purchase with a perpetual license. You pay once, you own it forever. All future updates within the same major version are included.

What data does Argus Capture collect?

None. All screenshots and recordings stay on your Mac. Argus Capture does not send any captured content to our servers. The only network calls are for license validation (Firebase Anonymous Auth) and auto-updates (Sparkle checks an XML feed). No telemetry, no analytics, no tracking.

Why does Argus Capture need Screen Recording permission?

macOS requires Screen Recording permission for any app that captures screen content. Without it, Argus Capture cannot take screenshots or record your screen. Grant access in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.

Does it work with multiple monitors?

Yes. Argus Capture detects all connected displays and lets you choose which screen to capture or record.

Can I record system audio?

Yes. Four audio modes: System + Mic, System only, Mic only, or Muted. Each recording profile remembers its own audio setting.

What video formats are supported?

MOV and MP4 containers with H.264, H.265 (HEVC), ProRes 422, and ProRes 4444 codecs. Plus GIF and WebM export.

Can I use it for App Store screenshots?

That’s exactly what it’s built for. Store presets cover iOS (6.7", 6.5", 5.5", iPad 12.9"), Google Play (Phone, Tablet 7", Tablet 10"), and Mac App Store sizes.

Does it support annotations?

Yes. Nine tools: Pen, Arrow, Rectangle, Circle, Text, Highlight, Spotlight, Blur, and Pixelate. Draw on screen during or after capture.

How does the license work?

Your license is tied to one Mac at a time using a hardware identifier. If you switch Macs, you can transfer your license instantly using the Activate License Key option — no need to contact support.

Does it work on Intel Macs?

Argus Capture requires macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later. It runs natively on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs that support Sonoma.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If you are unsatisfied within 14 days of purchase, contact [email protected] or use Paddle’s self-service refund process. The 7-day free trial is specifically designed so you can evaluate the app before buying.
